About
Based in London's East End, Access Subtitling ® offers professional, affordable subtitles for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing viewers.
I’ve worked with words for more than 30 years, having begun my professional life as a sub-editor and writer on magazines and newspapers. In the ‘90s, I spent seven years at the BBC, subtitling pre-recorded and live programmes across all of the output. On leaving the BBC in 2001, I enjoyed a busy career as a freelance broadcast subtitler, and in 2014, I founded Access Subtitling to concentrate on the burgeoning digital video content.
My clients can be confident that their videos will be subtitled by one of a small team of professionals with years of experience on all major broadcast and digital TV channels, streaming services and social media. Access Subtitling subtitlers are experts in deaf awareness and will create a "visual soundtrack" for your video, so it can be enjoyed with or without sound.

I’m based in the East End of Glasgow. Like Fran, I started in journalism, then found my way, via working for a disability charity, into subtitling for the BBC 25 years ago.
For the last ten years, I’ve been freelance and have been lucky enough to work on a wide range of interesting content for broadcast, digital, online, social media and streaming services.
I love subtitling. Working with words, artists and content providers and researching every last detail to make sure deaf, deafened and hard of hearing audiences get the full viewing experience really is the dream job!
